The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of the work of ConocoPhillips (COPSAS) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements within the disciplines of technical safety and process safety in respect of the operation and maintenance of Ekofisk 2/4 J (EkoJ) located in the Norwegian North Sea.

The audit was carried out between November 17 and December 15, 2014.

Ekofisk 2/4 J is a processing and transportation platform which became operational in 1998. It is connected with gangways to Ekofisk 2/4 X to the west and Ekofisk 2/4 M to the south. According to the PSA, five non-conformities were identified in connection with: barrier management; high-voltage installations; management of non-conformities; pressure tanks and documentation.

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with: fire water; process shutdown valve; ignition sources; evacuation routes and acceptance criteria.
