Statoil has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) for exploration drilling in block 6706/12 located in the Norwegian Sea.
Statoil recently decided to drill a well in production licence 602 in order to test the Roald Rygg Prospect.
Statoil is the operator for PL 602 in block 6706/12 in the Norwegian Sea. According to the PSA, the company is to drill well 6706/12-3 Roald Rygg, to investigate the find’s potential.
Expected start-up is March 2015 with a duration of approx. 34 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.
The well will be drilled with Transocean Spitsbergen, a semi-submersible drilling rig of the Aker H-6e type. It was built at the Aker Stord yard, is registered in the Bahamas and classified by DnV.
The facility received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in October 2012.
