Lundin Norway AS (Lundin) has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway(PSA) for exploration drilling of well 7220/11-2, in the Barents Sea with Island Innovator rig.
Lundin was granted a drilling permit for well 7220/11-2 from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) in January 2015.
Lundin is the operator for production licence 609 in block 7220/11 in the Barents Sea. Lundin is to drill well 7220/11-2, to investigate the find’s potential.
According to the PSA, expected start-up is March 2015 with a duration of approx. 62 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.
The well is to be drilled by the Island Innovator semi-submersible drilling rig of the GM4000-WI type, built in 2012 at Cosco Zhoushan Shipyard in China. The rig is operated by Odfjell Drilling. It is registered in Norway and classified by DNV GL. Island Innovator was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in August 2013.
The PSA has now granted Lundin consent for exploration drilling.
