The biggest ever cruise ship built for the British market Britannia has entered the Port of Southampton area steaming her way to her new home Southampton.
P&O Cruises, brand of Carnival Group, issued the following map indicating Britannia’s arrival route, her final destination being Mayflower Park with predicted arrival scheduled for 12:45. The latest updates say that the ship is at Gosport and Lee on Solent.
The cruise ship was handed over to her owner by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri at the end of February.
The new P&O Cruises vessel will be officially named at Ocean Cruise Terminal by Her Majesty The Queen, on Tuesday 10 March 2015.
The £500m Britannia will be the first P&O cruise ship with a new livery with blue funnels and a stylized 97 meters long Union Jack draped over the bow.
At 144,000 gross tons, 330 meters long and 38 meters wide, the giant cruise ship has 1,837 cabins, and it is able to accommodate 4,324 passengers on board, with total capacity of over 5,700 people, including the crew.
The ship features the very latest innovations in dining, entertainment and modern design.
Britannia’s maiden voyage is planned to take place between 14 – 28 March 2015, her destinations being in Spain, Italy and France.
