A vessel has reportedly crashed into an offshore platform in the Persian Gulf, Iran, last night.

According to the Azeri news agency Trend, the Bahraini commercial ship hit and damaged a platform in the giant South Pars gas field.

The news agency further says that the ship collided with a platform due to “a lack of lights and alarm signals on the platform.”

Offshore Energy Today was unable to verify the information, as National Iranian Gas Company did not answer our phone call seeking confirmation.

Pars Oil & Gas did pick up, but nobody from the press office was available for a conversation at the time of our call.

Should we get more info on the alleged collision, we will update the article accordingly.
