Yemen crisis has prompted the country’s LNG export facility in Balhaf to shut one of its two liquefaction trains.
As Reuters reports, recent unrests have caused LNG vessels to change their destination.
According to a trader familiar with the matter, insurance companies are rejecting to berth the vessels in Yemen. Due to this fact three LNG carriers that have been scheduled to berth at the LNG export facility have all been diverted.
LNG carrier Provalys is in the Red sea after it changed its course on April 4. It was scheduled to dock at the Balhaf facility on April 6. STX Colt is currently off the coast of Oman while Grace Acacia is in the Arabian sea.
The 6.7 Mtpa Yemen LNG project, operated by France’s Total, has three long-term contracts to supply LNG to GDF Suez, Kogas and Total Gas & Power.
