Eighteen Masters from the Windfarm Crew Transfer industry recently met at the inaugural Workships Contractors’ Masters Command Conference 2015.

The Masters, who all work for the recently acquired Offshore Wind Services, managed by Workships Contractors, traveled from UK and Europe to attend the events held in Colchester, Essex, UK.

The event was split into 2 separate days: Day 1 a working forum, compiled of various safety and operational subject presentations including a guest presentation by IMCA. On day 2 of the event Offshore Wind Services funded a MCA recognised one-day Stability Course for all Masters.

IMCA Chief Executive Chris Chairman and Technical Advisors Mark Ford and Chris Baldwin joined day 1 of the event to present an insight into IMCA.

The presentations covered many subjects including; IMCAs background and drivers, developing changes to the CMID MSIW 189 audit document and recent IMCA documentation and guideline publications.

Philip Woodcock, Operations Director at Workships Contractors took his experience learned from the IMCA Renewables Work Group to lead the National Workboat Association Safety Forum in 2014. The Safety Forum provides an opportunity for workboat operators and industry representatives to share important safety observations and lessons learned with each other.

The Safety Forum is currently working on gathering health and safety statistics from the crew boat sector.
