Maersk Drilling’s ultra deepwater drillship Maersk Voyager is now well on its way towards Ghana where it will operate for Eni Ghana Exploration and Production Ltd.
Maersk Drilling said yesterday, May 4, 2015, that Maersk Voyager’s first stop is in Singapore and according to VesselFinder that is where the vessel is now moored.
The vessel was named in September 2014 at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard in Geoje-Si, South Korea and it was delivered on February 6, 2015.
Maersk Voyager is the last in a series of four ultra deepwater drillships that were ordered in 2011 and represent a total investment of $2.6 billion.
The drillship was awarded a 3.5 years contract with an option to extend by one year from Eni Ghana in March 2015.
Maersk Drilling said that the total estimated revenue from the firm contract is $545 million including mobilisation and escalations. Maersk Voyager will work on the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Project offshore Ghana with expected beginning in July 2015.
