The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued an order on rehearing, reaffirming its authorization of the Cove Point liquefaction project.
On September 29, 2014, the commission authorized Dominion Cove Point LNG to site, construct, and operate facilities for the liquefaction and export of domestically-produced natural gas at Dominion’s existing Cove Point LNG import terminal in Calvert County, Maryland. The September 29 order also authorized Dominion to construct and operate facilities at its existing compressor station and metering and regulating sites in Fairfax County, Virginia and at a metering and regulating site in Loudoun County, Virginia, FERC said in its order.
Allegheny Defense Project and Wild Virginia; BP Energy Company and EarthReports comprizing Potomac Riverkeeper, Shenandoah Riverkeeper, Sierra Club, and Stewards of the Lower Susquehanna, filed timely rehearing requests, while Allegheny and EarthReports also requested a stay.
FERC informed in its order that it denies all rehearing and stay requests.
