Werner Enterprises and Love’s Travel Stops signed an agreement which lead to opening of Love’s first CNG location in Georgia.
The existing travel stop in Thomson is now dispensing Love’s Fast-Fill CNG for heavy-duty trucks and a CNG fueling option for passenger vehicles, the company said in a statement.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center, this is the second CNG facility in the Greater Augusta area and the first in Thomson.
Werner, which operates more than 7,100 trucks and is one of the five largest truckload carriers in the nation, has taken steps to improve its sustainability. The transport company planned to purchase eight CNG trucks specifically for the Thomson area, but they lacked a reliable place to fill.
Love’s Fast-Fill CNG will enable drivers to fill a 100-gallon equivalent tank in 10 minutes or less.
