BP Trinidad and Tobago LLC (BPTT) has announced that the Ocean Victory semi-submersible drilling rig has arrived in Trinidad and Tobago.
The company said that the drilling operations are expected to start in May. After taking on personnel, equipment and supplies, the rig, which is owned and operated by Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc., will move to the offshore location for the BPTT Juniper field located 50 miles off the southeast coast of Trinidad.
The Juniper project is BPTT’s first in subsea field development, and will have a production capacity of approximately 590 million standard cubic feet a day with first gas from the facility expected in 2017, the company said.
According to BPTT, the rig, which is capable of drilling to total depths of up to 25,000 feet, and in water depths of up to 6,000 feet, is under contract for an initial term of two years. It is expected to drill 5 subsea wells which will be tied into the Juniper platform.
BPTT Regional President Norman Christie said: “The arrival of the Diamond Ocean Victory rig is an important milestone in the execution of the Juniper campaign. In adding a third rig to our fleet, BPTT continues to demonstrate continued commitment to Trinidad and Tobago.
“This development is an important part of the future for BPTT because it will assist the company in meeting its natural gas commitments to the market.”
