Dharmendra Pradhan, Indian Minister of State Petroleum & Natural Gas visited the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) installations and facilities in the Mumbai High Western Offshore yesterday, May 14, 2015.

According to the press release from ONGC, the Minister visited the Rig-Virtue 1 to have an overall understanding about the nature of offshore drilling operations. The chartered-hire rig has been deployed in the Mumbai High North field and is attached to the WO-16 Platform, the company said.

The ONGC further said that the Minister visited the Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) unit deployed at Cluster-7 field of the Mumbai High Asset, which has been recently brought under production. According to ONGC, the Cluster-7 field currently produces about 15,000 barrels of oil per day.

During his tour, Pradhan also visited Mumbai High North (MHN) process complex which is located about 90 nautical miles west of Mumbai.

“We have to think with an open mind in order to ascertain as to how new reserve accretion can be accomplished as well as production be enhanced,” Dharmendra Pradhan said.

Referring to the task given by Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi to reduce import dependence of crude by 10% by 2022 he said, “We need to think innovatively with a positive note in order to scale newer heights as far as production is concerned”.
