North West Shelf project in Australia reportedly restarted production at its Karatha gas plant on May 11.
The Woodside-operated facility was shut down on May 5 due to an electrical issue that caused the loss of power supply.
Two cargoes have already been loaded at the facility since the restart. Woodside Rogers loaded a cargo on May 12 while Energy Confidence LNG carrier loaded on May 17, Platts reports. LNG carrier Northwest Snipe is currently at the export plant.
Woodside did not reply to an e-mail by LNG World News seeking comment regarding the situation at the NWS facility.
According to sources, NWS was in negotiations with its long-term buyers to defer cargoes that have been affected by the shut down to winter period. It is also reported that the full production is expected to be at full capacity by the end of the month.
Located on the Burrup Peninsula near the Port of Dampier and the town of Karratha, the North West Shelf Venture is Australia’s first LNG project.
Besides the operator Woodside, the stakeholders in the LNG project are BHP Billiton, Chevron, BP, Japan Australia LNG and Shell.
