Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned company, has reportedly stopped output at its P-56 offshore platform in the Campos Basin off Brazil after an explosion started a fire and injured two workers.
According to Reuters , the explosion happened on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in the Marlim Sul field and left two workers injured.
Reuters further reports that one of the workers was taken ashore to receive medical attention and the other one remained on board.
Brazil’s national petroleum workers federation, FUP, said that the fire caused first and second-degree burns to the workers’ hands.
The cause of the accident is still unknown. The union said that production was shut at 2 p.m. local time, but it did not state how much output was affected.
