PSA probes jack-up Maersk Intrepid (Norway)

Between 17 and 20 March 2015, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway carried out an audit of Mærsk Drilling Norge AS and Total E&P Norge AS in the domains of working environment and logistics.

According to the PSA, the audit began with an initial meeting in Maersk Drilling’s offices at Forus and then a verification on board the jack-up Maersk Intrepid, while the rig was in operation for Total on Martin Linge field.

The objective of the audit was to verify the companies’ compliance with the regulations and preconditions for an AoC decision in the fields of working environment and logistics.

As a result, non-conformities were identified in connection with: Protective and guide structures; Materials handling; Lifting operations; Training and drills; Lifting equipment; Analyses; Measures; Competence and clarification of responsibilities; Competence and communication; Working environment committee.

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with: Competence; Exhaust gases in crane cabins; Technical conditions; Chemicals; Registration of occupational illnesses.

The rig, Maersk Intrepid, received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in August 2014.
