Norway’s Apply Leirvik has signed a contract for an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) delivery of the Johan Sverdrup Accommodation module. The company says that with a value of around NOK 2 billion ($252.1 million), this is its largest contract ever.
The Accommodation module is part of the Johan Sverdrup Utility and Living Quarter (ULQ) platform, to be built for Statoil by the K2JV (Kvaerner & KBR) joint venture. Apply’s contract with K2JV includes delivery of a new seven-floor Accommodation (LQ) module with an area of 14500 m2, a capacity of 560 beds, recreation areas, changing rooms, helicopter deck, helicopter hangar and other facilities required for operation of an offshore hotel.
The accommodation module will be a hybrid construction with level 1-2 built in steel and levels 3-7 built in aluminium. Level 1 and 2 will be fabricated by Kvaerner and KBR as an integrated part of the utility module, and outfitted by Apply. The Accommodation module will be assembled by Apply at Kvaerner’s facilities at Stord. Apply says that the engineering work will start immediately and the delivery will be in Q2 2018. The execution of the work will be a joint effort of Apply Leirvik (Stord, Norway) and its sister companies Apply Emtunga (Sweden) and Aluminium Offshore (Singapore).
