Maersk Drilling has received the Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway for the Maersk Integrator jack-up drilling rig, deeming the rig good for deployment in Norwegian seas.
Maersk Integrator is one of the world’s largest jack-up drilling rigs, delivered by the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore in 2014, and named at a ceremony held on February 14, 2015.
The rig has a leg length of 206.8m (678ft) and is designed for year round operations in the North Sea, in water depths up to 150m (492ft). The rig will be operated by Maersk Drilling Norge AS.
In April 2015 ‘Maersk Integrator’ was taken to Stavanger , Norway, where it started its four year contract with Statoil. The Norwegian oil company will use the rig for development drilling in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
PSA has made assessment that petroleum activities may be carried out using the Maersk Integrator jack-up within the regulatory framework.
The validity of the Acknowledgement of Compliance assumes that Maersk Drilling Norge AS ensures that the rig and relevant parts of the company’s organisation and management systems are maintained, to fulfil the terms and conditions set out in the PSA’s decision.
Audits in connection with the AoC application
PSA notes that Maersk Integrator is the third jack-up rig in a series of four of this type. PSA says that the AoC for Maersk Integrator is based, among other things, on the AoCs for Maersk Interceptor and Maersk Intrepid . PSA has also performed several audits of Maersk Integrator.
