Odfjell Drilling has awarded Aibel the yard stay contract for the rig Deepsea Bergen.

According to Aibel, the rig will arrive at its yard in Haugesund early in the autumn 2015.

During the stay of approximately one month, Aibel will be performing various tasks in connection with SPS (Special Periodic Survey). This includes inspection activities and modifications within structure and piping. The planning of the yard stay starts this week. The contract has a value of 40 MNOK ($5.1 million).

According to Odfjell Drilling, the yard stay is estimated to 30 days excluding sailing time.

“During spring and summer we have won several new contracts within this field. It shows that we are able to offer attractive solutions for the rig, FPSO and ship markets,” states Bjørn Tollefsen , EVP Yard Haugesund in Aibel.

“It is part of our strategy for the yard to use our expertise to win more contracts like this in the future. It will keep up the activity level and help securing stable employment in a competitive market,” Tollefsen explains.

Deepsea Bergen is a semi-submersible drilling rig built in 1983 and it is owned by Odfjell Drilling. The rig is on a long-term contract with Statoil and most recently it has been used for activities for Statoil at the fields Skuld, Åsgard and Heidrun.
