Semco Maritime has reportedly won a contract to prepare Songa Offshore’s Songa Equinox after the rig arrives in Norway.
According to Offshore.no , Semco Maritime was awarded the contract in cooperation with PSW Group, and the operations on the rig will be performed in Hanøytangen, Norway. Songa Equinox is the first in a series of four Category D rigs specifically built for and contracted to Statoil. The agreement also contains options for the next three rigs.
This contract comes shortly after Semco Maritime acquired Bergen Group’s rig-service yard in Hanøytangen.
Offshore.no further reported that Semco Maritime is the main contractor while PSW Group will provide services related to drilling and subsea equipment.
To remind, Songa took delivery of the rig from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea on June 30, 2015. After the delivery, the rig was lined up to set sail from Korea to Norway to start an eight-year drilling contract with Statoil, with first assignment on the Troll Field on the Norwegian continental shelf. It is expected that the rig will start drilling operations in Q4 2015.
Offshore Energy Today reached out to Semco Maritime and PSW Group seeking to find out further details of the contract as well as information on rig’s arrival; however, we are yet to receive any response.
