Aker Solutions informed that the process module for Lundin Petroleum’s Edvard Grieg platform has been transported from Aker Solutions’ yard in Egersund, Norway out to field last week.

The Edvard Grieg field is located in the Utsira High area in the central North Sea, offshore Norway.

The video shows the sail-away of a process module from Egersund and the towing of the other topside modules from Kvaerner’s yard in Stord, Norway.

In 2012, Kvaerner was awarded a contract by Lundin for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the topside for the Edvard Grieg platform.

The engineering started after the contract was awarded, fabrication in 2013 and the delivery was scheduled for April 2015. Fabrication and assembly of the process module was conducted by Aker Solutions yard in Egersund, while the main topside module and the utility module was assembled at Stord. The delivery of 22 000 tonnes topside was ready as scheduled in April after which preparations for tow-out and hook-up began.

The topside consists of a main deck module, a combined utility module and living quarters, a process module and a flare tower.

The modules for the topside will be lifted in place on top of the steel jacket in three separate lifts. Kvaerner will assist Lundin with offshore hook up and completion during the summer and into the fall. The production is expected to reach a peak of 100 000 barrels a day.
