The developer Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon has submitted plans for the new 7.5 km cable route, and for the construction of water sports center as part of the lagoon.
According to the South Wales Evening Post, Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon has submitted the planning application to Swansea, and Neath Port Talbot councils to lay three cables that would connect the lagoon with the substation at Baglan Bay.
The developer has also filed an application for the construction of a water sports center, also known as the western landfill building, as part of the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon, South Wales Evening post reports.
To remind, Swansea Bay tidal lagoon has received the planning consent approval from the Secretary of State Amber Rudd on June 9, 2015.
The project will have the capacity of 320 MW and has a design life of 120 years and a net annual power output of over 500 GW/h.
It is enough to meet the annual electricity requirement of over 155.000 homes, or over 90 percent of homes in the Swansea Bay area, according to Tidal Lagoon Power.
