ENGIE, formerly known as GDF SUEZ, has restated the company’s commitment to power generation from renewable sources.
According to ENGIE, fossil fuels will no longer be sufficient to meet global energy demand after 2050, which is expected to double, which is why renewables have been a very important area of development for the company for several years, with the aim of increasing their contribution year-on-year.
ENGIE’s portofolio of renewable energy generation includes wind, marine energy, solar and biomass sources. The Group has 1000 MW of installed capacity when it comes to onshore wind power, and 383 MW of solar generation capacity.
ENGIE is a global energy player and an expert operator in the three key sectors of electricity, natural gas and energy services.
In December, 2014, ENGIE, together with Alstom, was chosen to develop a pilot tidal energy farm at Raz Blanchard, France.
ENGIE recently announced that renewable energy plays central role for the company revealing the plans to double its renewables capacity in Europe by 2025.
