Rowan rigs stay with Saudi Aramco

Rowan Companies, a U.S. drilling contractor, has secured several contract extensions, according to its August fleet update. Rowan Companies, a U.S. drilling contractor, has secured several contract extensions, according to its August fleet update.

Most notably, Saudi Aramco extended contracts for three jack-up units, Rowan Middletown, Charles Rowan, and Arch Rowan.

The contracts have been extended for three years each, until August 2018, at a slightly reduced day rate of $69.000 per rig. The previous day rate for thethree rigs was $70.000 per unit.

The company has nine drilling rigs under contract with Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia.

Elsewhere, in the Gulf of Mexico, Rowan also secured an extension for 60 days for the Rowan Gorilla IV with Energy XXI at the current day rate of $70,000.
