Archer (UK) Limited announced today that Apache has exercised the first of two options to extend its existing contract with Archer for the provision of Platform Drilling Services for a period of one year.

It is excellent news for Archer and illustrates the hard work and commitment which our personnel put into delivering a safe environment for all those engaged on the Apache assets whilst ensuring support in delivering Apache’s high level of operational efficiency,” said Kenny Dey , Managing Director of Archer in the U.K. “We look forward to continuing our working relationship with Apache through the duration of the contract.”
Archer currently operates a total of 33 platforms in the North Sea, Greece and Brazil, including Platform Drilling O&M services on the Forties Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta platforms along with the Beryl Alpha and Bravo installations.
Archer did not disclose the financial value of the extension.
The drilling services company has not been immune to the drop of oil price. Due to the lack of spending by its customers, the company has so far this year laid off more that 1.500 workers.
During its quarterly presentation on July 31, Archer said it would be forced to cut its workforce by another 300 employees, leading to a total reduction of over 21% compared to the headcount at the end of December 2014.
