Offshore Renewables Joint Industry Programme (ORJIP) for Ocean Energy, a UK-wide collaborative programme of environmental research, has launched its website in support for offshore wind and marine energy projects.
ORJIP Ocean Energy programme aims to reduce consenting risks for wave, tidal stream and tidal range projects by facilitating a strategic, coordinated and prioritised approach to monitoring and research which is endorsed by industry, regulators and SNCBs.
The programme website contains background on the programme itself, and identifies the priority environmental research projects that have been agreed by industry, regulators and SNCBs.
The Crown Estate, Marine Scotland and the Welsh Government have provided the funding necessary for the running of ORJIP Ocean Energy, which will be conducted by Aquatera, Marine Space and the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).
The ORJIP OE Secretariat aims to engage and identify project developers with sites that could be used to host some of the studies, together with regulators, SNCB’s or academic partners to take the studies forward.
The Secretariat is also exploring funding opportunities for the projects, ORJIP’s press release reads.
ORJIP Secretariat will be attending and presenting at various conferences and events including OEE2015 and Bristol Tidal Energy Forum in October, and Marine Renewables Canada and ITES in November.
