The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of the management of emergency preparedness at Gullfaks B platform at the Statoil-operated Gullfaks oil and gas field in the Norwegian North Sea.

According to the PSA, the objective of the audit conducted from September 9 to 11, 2015, was to gain an overview of the processes and systems that contribute to ensuring comprehensive emergency preparedness management at Gullfaks B platform.

Gullfaks field was discovered in 1979 and has been developed using three large Condeep platforms, Gullfaks A, Gullfaks B and Gullfaks C.

The PSA has found that the maintenance of evacuation routes was not complying with a regulatory requirement.

Improvement points were also identified relating to incompatible work tasks, and training of emergency response personnel.

The PSA has given Statoil a deadline of November 5, 2015, to report on how the non-conformity and improvement points will be dealt with.
