Odfjell Drilling’s 3rd generation semi-submersible, Deepsea Bergen, has finished its yard stay in connection with the 5-year special periodic survey and is now in transit to location where it will resume operations.

The company did not provide details as to where the rig is headed, but the Deepsea Bergen is on a long-term contract with Norwegian oil giant Statoil.

Odfjell Drilling says the transit is expected to take 3-4 days. Including expected transit time, the 5-year special periodic survey is executed on budget and time, $53 million and 6 weeks, respectively, the company said.

To remind, Odfjell Drilling awarded Aibel the yard stay contract for the rig Deepsea Bergen in June 2015.

“We have been working to a tight schedule and have achieved a lot in a short period of time. Handover took place at the end of September, and our part of the work took 21 days,” says Aibel’s Project Manager, Jarle Toft .

Simen Lieungh , Odfjell Drilling CEO, says: “We are proud of demonstrating our ability to surpass the high ambitions set for this yard stay. Planning and performing efficient and safe yard stays is an important success factor for Odfjell Drilling and the Deepsea Bergen yard stay adds to our proven track record.

“We believe these results will further strengthen Odfjell Drilling’s reputation as an integrated service provider offering project management services also for third party rig owners.”

The total scope of work has been carried out according to the plan and requirements without any injuries to personnel or material incidents, Odfjell Drilling has concluded.

Deepsea Bergen is a semi-submersible drilling rig built in 1983 and owned by Odfjell Drilling.
