Thai oil and gas company PTT Exploration & Production International (PTTEPI) has issued a Letter of Intent aiming to hire the tender barge rig, EDrill-2, from Energy Drilling. The contract will be for a firm term of 18 months with an option period of 30 months.
The 100m long rig, built in China in 2014, will be deployed at the Zawtika field, in the Gulf of Martaban, offshore Myanmar.
PTTEPI will use the rig for a development drilling campaign. The drilling campaign consists of around sixty-seven wells to be drilled from ten wellhead platforms in water depths of up to 160 meters.
The contract start date is set for mid-December 2015 with EDrill-2 currently undertaking pre-mobilization inspections and third party equipment installations.
