Transocean, an offshore drilling contractor, has stacked several of its drilling rigs and has received a contract award for one of its jack-up rigs in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Transocean’s October fleet status report, the company’s high-spec jack-up drilling rig, GSF Constellation I, has been awarded a one well contract offshore UAE at a dayrate of $104,000. The contract with UAE’s Bunduq starts in April 2016 and ends in December that same year.
The GSF Constellation I is currently under a contract with Total, offshore Indonesia, until January 2016, with a dayrate of $150,000.
Transocean also informed on Monday that the company mutually agreed with Shell and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. (DSME) to delay the operating and delivery contracts of the two newbuild ultra-deepwater drillships – the Deepwater Pontus and the Deepwater Poseidon – by 12 months each.
Sale & stacking
According to Transocean, the GSF Rig 135 rig, built in 1983, is classified as held for sale and it will be recycled.
In addition, Transocean stacked two of its semi-submersible drilling rigs, Sedco Energy and Sedco Express, both entered into service in 2000, and the Discoverer Enterprise drillship, built in 1999.
Furthermore, the company stacked its harsh-environment drilling rig Henry Goodrich, built in 1985, and two of its midwater floaters, Transocean Prospect and Transocean Searcher, both built in 1983.
Lastly, the 1998-built, high-spec jack-up rig, the GSF Galaxy II, was also stacked.
