Golar LNG has signed a contract with West African Gas to charter an FSRU to be used as LNG import terminal in Ghana.
Under the 5-year agreement, Golar LNG will provide WAGL with the 170,000 cbm newbuild FSRU Golar Tundra due for delivery from Samsung Heavy during November, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
WAGL, jointly owned by subsidiaries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation with 60 percent and Sahara Energy Resource with 40 percent, has an option to extend the deal for further five years.
The joint venture is developing an LNG import project at the port of Tema on the coast of Ghana, West Africa with a planned start up in Q2 2016.
Upon delivery, the FSRU will be moored inside the port at a new jetty currently under construction, following minor modifications in Singapore.
Golar LNG said it expects an EBITDA of approximately $44 million in the first full year of operation.
