Two offshore wind-related research projects will receive a portion of a EUR 10 million grant through the Investment for the Future program (EMR ITE 2015) launched jointly by France’s Institute for Energy Transition and National Research Agency (ANR).

The first offshore wind-related project that will receive part of the funds is research into modeling the role of offshore wind turbines in changing the functioning of coastal food webs in accumulated impacts, carried out by Trophik.

A part of the grant will also go to Eolink for their research into a new concept of floating wind turbine, including its structure, the float and the anchor system.

Following a call for projects launched back in July ANR and the Institute for Energy Transition, a total of ten projects has been chosen by an interdepartmental jury to receive the funds.

The aim of this call for projects is the development of the French sector of marine renewable energy through the industrial research. The main themes covered by these projects are site characterization, modeling and evaluation of environmental impacts and the development of the technology.

A new call for projects totaling EUR 3 million will be launched by the ANR in the first quarter 2016.
