Italian shipbuilding conglomerate Fincantieri has signed a number of framework agreements with Iranian counterparts during an official visit of an Iranian delegation to Italy.
Fincantieri said that these were preliminary understandings pending reaching of several contracts worth hundred million euros and potential development of joint activities.
In particular, Fincantieri has reached a cooperation and development agreement with Azim Gostaresh Hormoz Shipbuilding Industry Co (AGH), a new shipyard located in the Persian Gulf, controlled by the Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Company (ISOICO). The agreement provides for cooperation between the two companies in the construction of new merchant vessels and offshore units both in the field of shiprepairs and conversions and in refitting activities of already operating units.
Notably, the cooperation is expected to result in the development of detailed engineering skills, optimization of the construction processes, technical consultancy and assistance in all production phases and personnel training both on site and in Italy. To this end, the two companies plan to shortly create specific working groups to develop a solid business partnership in the area.

The agreement which we have achieved thanks to the company’s presence in all the areas of the shipbuilding and advanced manufacturing industry, will surely represent an added value of outmost importance to increase the worldwide dimension and the export share of our group, ” said Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri .
Moreover, Fincantieri, through its subsidiary Isotta Fraschini Motori, has signed two further agreements concerning the marine propulsion sector and one for rail transports.
Specifically, Isotta Fraschini Motori has signed an agreement with Arka Tejarat Qeshm (ATQ), an Iranian trading company, to supply 600 marine engines for smaller vessels to Iranian Governmental User (IGU).
In addition, Titagarh FIREMA ADLER, company active in the production of rolling stock, signed an agreement with Wagon Pars Co. (WPC), Iranian company operating in the railway vehicles construction field, to supply the Iranian Railway (RAI) 70 shunting locomotives engines.
