Turkish shipping company Atlantis Tankers Group and its management company Armona Denizcilik AS have ordered EX-approved ballast water treatment system (BWTS) for ten vessels from Norway-based BWTS firm Optimarin.
The vessels include two newbuilding and eight existing vessels in the Turkish managed tanker fleet.
The first two systems are scheduled for delivery in March and June of 2016. They will be mounted on Atlantis Augusta and Atlantis Alicante, currently being built at Turkish shipyards Selay and Selah.
The remaining eight EX-systems are scheduled for delivery in 2018 and 2019, for retrofitting installation on the existing fleet during special dry dock surveys in 2019 and 2020.
The tankers range from 3,446 to 6,416 dwt and are all designed for the transport of IMO II classified chemical cargoes.
