The Port of Rotterdam has posted a short video of the recently upgraded wind turbine installation vessel Brave Tern performing a full height jacket test.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, the owner of the vessel, contracted the Rotterdam yard of Franklin Offshore Europe to extend the Brave Tern’s legs by 14m to 92.4m, one of the several upgrades she underwent in order to be able to handle the ever-growing multi MW offshore turbine sets.

Following the upgrades, the Brave Tern is now capable of carrying 4 complete multi MW turbine sets consisting of towers, nacelles and blades for installation.

The Bold Tern, the sister vessel of the Brave Tern, will undergo identical upgrades by mid-summer.
