Two Indian sailors have died in a fire that broke out on board the Al Sadaa tanker in Yemen, according to India’s Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj.
As informed, three more seafarers, also all of Indian nationality have been injured in the incident.
“The three sailors injured in Yemen are all Indians. They are admitted in Sultan Qaboos Hospital Salalah, Oman,” Swaraj said.
“Our missions in Djibouti and Oman are providing all assistance.”
Two of the three injured crew members are out of danger, with the remaining third sailor said to be in critical condition due to the gravity of the sustained injuries.
There were no further details revealed on the condition of the ship or the potential cause of the fire.
The Panama-flagged oil/chemical tanker is built in 1994 and has a deadweight of 2204 tonnes.
