Rolls-Royce said on Tuesday it has signed a deal with Tersan Shipyard in Turkey to supply the LNG propulsion package for a cargo carrier for Denmark’s BioMar Group and NSK Shipping of Norway.

Under the US$6.5 million deal, Rolls-Royce will provide one eight cylinder natural gas engine rated at 2160kW, rudder and propeller system, one tunnel thruster in the bow and one in the aft, and a Rolls-Royce automation and DP system.

The company said in a statement that the main engine will also generate electricity for the ship.

The new cargo carrier, designed by NSK Ship Design, will be 81.5 meters long and able to carry 2.700 tons of fish food. It will be slightly larger than its sister ship, the MS Høydal, that was built by the Tersan Shipyard in 2012.

The newly ordered vessel is expected to be delivered in 2017.
