Nigeria LNG on Sunday responded to media reports of an “airborne disorder from dangerous gas” related to routine maintenance work being undertaken at the Bonny LNG facility.
The reports claimed that over 50 of NLNG staff and community residents were sick and hospitalised, Nigeria LNG said in its statement.
The company did confirm that a routine scheduled maintenance work has been going on at the Bonny facility since January but denied any accidents happening saying the allegation is “ false and irresponsible “.
NLNG’s Bonny Island facility has the capacity to produce 22 mtpa of liquefied natural gas from its six trains.
NLNG is a joint venture compromised of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC (49 percent), Shell (25.6 percent), Total (15 percent), and Eni (10.4 percent).
