Wärtsilä said on Monday it has signed a five-year maintenance deal with Bonny Gas Transport, the LNG shipping unit of Nigeria LNG.
Under the agreement, Wärtsilä will monitor and service the engines on board the BGT’s six new LNG carriers and deliver spare parts, as well as expertise for inspections and major service overhauls, the statement reveals.
The six LNG carriers to be serviced are equipped with five Wärtsilä 50DF engines each and operate primarily on gas.
Simon Auseth, General Manager Business development, Marine Agreements, Wärtsilä added that the company’s maintenance planning concept will help BGT minimize the risk of disruptions to operations.
