Petronet LNG’s Dahej terminal in India is set to receive a cargo of chilled gas from Qatar during the weekend.
The 155,000 cbm LNG tanker Assem departed from Qatar’s Ras Laffan port on Wednesday and is expected to dock at the Dahej terminal on March 19, according to shipping data.
Petronet LNG receives the fuel from Qatar under a long-term deal with RasGas that was revised in December. Under the initial deal signed in 1999, Petronet agreed to pay about $13 per million British thermal units, while the revised price is reduced to around $6 to $7 per MMBtu.
India’s largest importer of chilled gas recently said that works related to the expansion of its Dahej terminal from 10 mtpa to 15 mtpa are going on as per schedule and it is expected that this capacity expansion will be completed by the end of this year.
The Dahej facility has operated at around 109 percent of its nameplate capacity in the fourth quarter of the previous year. The total volume regasified at the terminal during the quarter was 138 TBTUs, Petronet said.
