Australia’s AWE informed that David Biggs has been appointed as company’s new CEO and managing director commencing early May 2016.
Biggs, who was selected in a search process started in October last year, brings over 35 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector, AWE said in a statement on Friday.
Under the contract, new CEO will head the company for a three years period until 2019 with an annual remuneration of $800,000. The contract includes two, one-year extension options, AWE said in a statement.
Currently, Biggs is holding a position of CEO of Cue Energy, prior to which he held various positions at BHP Billiton for 20 years.
The new CEO will take over departing Bruce Clement held the position for five and a half years. Clement will help in the transition of the responsibilities to his successor, before leaving in September.
