ABB informed it has won a five-year contract to deliver equipment and services for Shell’s giant Prelude FLNG facility to be located offshore Australia.
The order includes the delivery of motors, generators, variable speed drives and low-voltage switchgear, Zurich-based ABB said in a statement on Wednesday.
“ ABB will build up a spare parts inventory, workshop repairs, training and provide round-the-clock technical support both over the phone and on-site. Spare parts and replacement systems are being procured this year, with training to begin soon after ,” the company said.
ABB did not reveal the value of the contract.
Shell’s Prelude FLNG is currently under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje shipyard in South Korea.
Once complete, the Prelude FLNG facility will be moored 475 kilometres north-east of Broome in Western Australia.
The FLNG facility is 488m long, 74m wide and along with its contents, will weigh around 600,000 tonnes.
Once operational, the FLNG facility will produce at least 5.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of LPG.
