Azerbaijan’s state-owned oil company Socar has started drilling a new well at the Neft Dashlari field, also known as Oil Rocks, located in the Caspian Sea.
Socar informed on Monday that the well would be drilled to 1860 meters of depth, and its daily production would reach 10 tons of oil.
According to Azerbaijan’s daily newspaper, AzerNews , the state-owned oil company is implementing a program to stabilize and increase oil output.
The newspaper stated that the company produced 8.16 million tons of oil in 2015 as compared to 8.32 million tons produced in 2014, and compared to 8.31 million tons in 2013.
Back in December 2015, three workers went missing as a part of the platform with the living quarters on the Oil Rocks field collapsed into the sea, after the platform had been hit by strong waves due to a stormy weather.
The search for missing oil workers from the Oil Rocks platform, as well as from the Guneshli 10 platform, is still ongoing .
Previously, one oil worker died in an incident at the Oil Rocks field in March 2014 when four workers fell into the sea during the repair works.
