Texas LNG on Thursday informed it has filed an application with the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission seeking permission to site, build and operate a 4 mtpa LNG export facility in Brownsville, Texas.
The project began the pre-filing process in March 2015 completing the front end engineering design (FEED) and submitting draft resource reports while consulting with FERC and other federal and state agencies over the course of the past year, Texas LNG said in a statement.
Texas LNG expects to receive all approvals and reach final investment decision in 2017.
Construction would begin shortly after all approvals are granted with first exports planned for 2020.
The project will be constructed in two phases. Planned production capacity for the first phase is 2 mtpa of LNG with the second phase, which will be developed at a later date increasing the capacity by another 2 mtpa.
