Zeeland Seaports on Monday informed an LNG bunkering pilot project was launched with the truck-to-ship bunkering operation in the port of Vlissingen.

The vessel bunkered at the port was Chemgas Shipping’s newly built dual-fuel coastal tanker Sundowner.

The pilot project, which will last until the end of the year, aims to determine whether permanent LNG bunkering would be realised in the port, the port authority statement reveals.

An LNG bunkering facility at the Vlissingen port is a part of Zeeland Seaports’ strategic master plan.

In October 2015, Chemgas and Zeeland Seaports agreed to investigate the potential for LNG bunkering at the Vlissingen port using the truck-to-ship method.
