Keppel Singmarine, Keppel O&M’s unit, on Thursday said the DLV 2000, deepwater derrick lay vessel will soon be delivered to McDermott’s unit Hydro Marine Services.
The naming ceremony for the vessel that is set for deployment on Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project has been held on Thursday, Keppel said in a statement.
Chow Yew Yuen, Chief Executive Officer of Keppel O&M , said, “DLV 2000 has been designed with enhanced features to work in water depths of up to 10,000 feet and in severe weather conditions.”
The vessel is expected to join the Ichthys LNG project in Australia where it will be deployed on installing of large subsea spools, laying infield umbilicals and lifting several subsea distribution units that will provide the hydraulic, chemical and electrical distribution from the umbilicals to the subsea drill centers.
Work is expected to be performed in conjunction with McDermott’s other new subsea installation vessel, the construction support vessel 108 (CSV 108), that is already working on the project.
Ichthys LNG project was initially scheduled for start-up at the end of this year, however, in September last year, Inpex delayed the production start-up of its $34 billion project for the third quarter of 2017, raising the production 6 percent from 8.4 mtpa to 8.9 mtpa of LNG.
The project is a joint venture between Inpex, major partner Total, CPC Corporation and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
