Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) on Tuesday said its newly established LNG carrier management company, MOL LNG Transport (Asia) started operations on Monday, April 18.
The company was established in September last year in Hong Kong as MOL is looking to grab its market share in the ship management segment while it operates a growing number of LNG carriers.
A company’s statement reveals the targeted area is the Asia Pacific region due to an anticipated rise in LNG shipments bound for Asia.
Currently, MOL is involved in the operation of about 70 liquefied natural gas carriers and is looking to expand its fleet further.
With the operations start at MOL LNG Transport (Asia), MOL now manages vessels through six companies in Tokyo, London, Jakarta, Muscat, Arzew and Hong Kong.
