Vroon’s 68-meter subsea support vessel (SSV) VOS Sugar was christened today in Ijmuiden, the Netherlands.

The vessel was named by Monita Horn, Operations and Chartering Administrator at Vroon Offshore Services Den Helder.

VOS Sugar is the first of the two newbuild SSVs that have been constructed for Vroon by Chinese Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding.

The vessel was handed over to Vroon in February this year. It is a DP2, SPS-coded vessel fitted with active heave-compensated crane and one retractable plus one super-silent tunnel bow thruster.

Following installation of an active heave-compensated crane, VOS Sugar is ready to start its first charter with NDE. The vessel will perform dive operations and maintenance work on windmill foundations in an offshore wind farm in German waters.

Earlier this week, the second SSV VOS Star was delivered to Vroon .

Both vessels will be operated by Vroon Offshore Services Den Helder.
