Origin Energy, one of the partners in the ConocoPhilips-operated Australia Pacific LNG project said the project has shipped 15 cargoes of LNG since January.
The company said in a statement on Friday that, during the quarter, the project located on Curtis Island off Gladstone shipped 11 cargoes of liquefied natural gas, adding four more during April.
Origin CEO Integrated Gas, David Baldwin said, “The majority of the 11 cargoes shipped from Australia Pacific LNG’s Curtis Island facility during the quarter were purchased by Sinopec in accordance with the sale and purchase agreement.”
He added that the production rates at the facility’s first production train, that dispatched its first cargo on January 9, have exceeded design nameplate capacity of 4.5 million tons.
Baldwin expects the first cargo from the second production train to be shipped in the first half of FY 2017.
Origin’s production rose 65 percent to 60.9 PJe during the first quarter, compared to the same period in FY2015, mostly driven by increased LNG production at the APLNG facility, the company said.
The company’s revenue also rose 49 percent to A$316.4 million, compared to the corresponding period the previous year, due to the commencement of LNG sales from the APLNG project.
