FPSO operator Bluewater has received a contract cancellation from Nexen for the FPSO Aoka Mizu producing from the Ettrick field in the North Sea.
According to Bluewater, production from the field will cease on June 1, 2016 and decommissioning of the vessel will start from that date. Redeployment opportunities for the FPSO Aoka Mizu are actively being pursued, said the company.
The Aoka Mizu is the seventh Bluewater designed, built, owned and operated FPSO. It has been deployed at the Ettrick and Blackbird fields for Nexen Petroleum UK since August 2009. The FPSO is 248,2 m long, and it can accommodate 90 persons.
Furthermore, Bluewater said that the FPSO Glas Dowr left the Kitan field on February 27, 2016. Bluewater noted it was addressing outstanding contractual matters with the client to establish final close out and reach settlement of the last portion of the remaining termination fee payment.
To remind, the contract for the FPSO Glas Dowr producing from the Kitan field, in the Timor Sea, for the Italian oil company Eni was terminated for convenience and the FPSO ceased operations on December 14, 2015. The disconnection project for the FPSO Glas Dowr started in February and is conducted by Technip and Australia’s Neptune was contracted to provide air diving services.
Bluewater also reported that its net result after tax for the first quarter of 2016 amounted to $37.1 million profit compared to a loss of $15 million for the first quarter of 2015.
