Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with Jordan for the use of excess capacity at the FSRU Golar Eskimo moored in Aqaba.
Egypt has already booked 200 mmscfd of gas at the FSRU that has the capacity to deliver 500 mmscfd to the Jordanian gas transmission pipeline.
Under the MoU, signed by Abdel Fattah Al-Daradkeh, general manager of Jordan’s National Electric Power Company and Fouad Rashad chairman of the Jordanian-Egyptian FAJR Company, Egypt would be delivered the excess capacity not used up by the Jordan’s power plants.
The FSRU Golar Eskimo arrived in Jordan in May 2015 with the first cargo arriving later the same month. The FSRU has a storage capacity of 160,000 cubic meters and a peaking capacity of 750 mmscfd.
Jordan has a deal with Shell for the delivery of 4.2 million cubic meters of gas per day for a five-year period.
